Testimonies involving the Creme Complete
Concerning a Lichen Sclerosis Lesion, involving Perrin’s Blend and the Creme Complete, from Eva in Norway
order arrived to our adress here in Norway Septermber 24, and my
daugther (18) started using Perrins Blend that very evening. At
first using the product gave her a burning kind of feeling, but that
stopped after a few days.
Some weeks before we ordered Perrins
Blend + The Creme Complete from your store, my daugther went to see her
doctor and he found out she had Lichen Skleroses and was
given steroids as treatment.
She was very depressed by the diagnosis,
and so I surfed the Internet to learn more and look for alternative
ways of treatment. Then we found and ordered your wonderful products.
daugther has been using both creams every day since they arrived. Two
weeks ago, she went to her doctor again to check out how she was doing
regading Lichen Skleroses. Her doctor didn't know anything about her
using your products. After he was done with the examination he called
me into his office (my daugther was still there). He looked at us and
said: " This must be some kind of a miracle . Your daugther doesn't have
Lichen Scleroses at all. I don't understand it, so maybee I was wrong
the first time she was here..." He seemed a little confused about it
My daugther looked at me and then told the doctor that she
had used "Perrins Blend" and "Creme Complete" for about two months. He
told us that he really didn't believe in that kind of alternative
treatment, but as long as no Lichen Scleroses was present any more he
couldn't deny the effect...
Now my daughter uses the Creme Complete almost every day and is feeling well.
After I send you this message i will go to your internet store to make a new order of your wonderful products.
Concerning Lichen Sclerosis, involving the Creme Complete, from Suzanne in Florida
James, Jim, and Judy, I am writing to thank you for sharing your
God-given products with others. I have had amazing results using the
Perrin's Complete [Creme Complete] for a condition known as Lichen
Sclerosis. I had been reluctantly using steroid creams for 2 years with
only marginal success, and frequent, painful exacerbations. I had been
searching for something with fewer side effects, long term, and more
effective pain relief. Imagine my joy in finding incredible and lasting
improvement with use of Perrin's Complete [Creme Complete]! I did try
the Perrin's Blend initially, but found the burning, in acutely
excoriated areas, much too uncomfortable, so I switched to the Complete
[Creme Complete}. I found almost immediate relief from the burning, and a
much quicker reduction in symptoms, and now experiencing a full
remission. I will never be without this "miracle"product" nearby, and I
thank you from the bottom of my heart! May the heavens smile on you and
Concerning a Lichen Sclerosis Lesion, involving Perrin’s Blend and the Creme Complete, from Roberta in Ohio
Just writing to let you know the Perrins Blend and Creme Complete works wonderfully.
have a disease called Lichen Schelrosis, it is a disease of the skin
that affects many women around the vulva area leaving lesions as it does
it damage. LS in itself does not cause Cancer but the Lesions it
leaves behind can go into cancer and that was what happened to me over 2
1/2 years ago requiring extensive surgery in that area. I was
diagnosed with stage 2 Sqameous Cell carcinoma cancer and the doctor was
able to remove all of that and was doing well till about a couple of
months ago when I had noticed more lesions forming and not wanting to
heal - that is the first sign that something is not right. Not too
anxious to go thru the surgery again I began looking and praying for God
to lead me to something natural to use. I began searching websites for
products and was drawn to your website twice.
I had called you and
talked with you about the product. I found out that no one else that
you knew of had used the cremes in the area in which I was going to.
But I decided to try it anyway because I knew it was all natural and
nothing was in it that would hurt me. So I ordered some Perrins blend
and creme complete and proceeded to use the Perrins blend at night
because it is a little guey. I used the Creme complete during the day
when I went to work to keep the high antioxidents on it all the time.
To start with the Perrings Blend did burn quite a bit the first fifteenn
minutes after applying. There was an initial burning for about 2 weeks
then the more I used it the less it burned and I could feel that it
was making the lesions smaller and it was like pieces of the lesion were
starting to flake off and the terrible itching that is associated with
LS was not as bad. I had went to my Doctor during this time frame and
he had scheduled me for a Biopsy and to remove the lesion on May 15th of
this year. I told him that the lesions were starting to feel better,
it didn't hurt to touch them anymore and I wasn't sure it would be
necessary for him to do that, but he insisted we proceed so I agreed
knowing that it would also give me piece of mind to know for sure that
the cremes I had been using were in fact working . May 15th the surgery
and biopsies were done at the Cleveland clinic and he told me it would
be 7 days before they knew. On the 7th day I was anxious to know so I
called and talked with the nurse and she said the tests came back and I
was a number 1 on the scale - zero being normal skin, 1 being low
moderate risk, 2 being medium moderate risk, 3 being high moderate risk
and 4 being cancer. The nurse also made the comment she was sure the
cremes I had been using were definitely working because I had dropped
2 points from the other biopsies that had been taken in previous
months. She said if she were me she would keep using those cremes. Also
when I had went back for post op appointment she had made the comment
again before she left the room that I should keep using the cremes that
there was definitely an inprovement. This is also the first time in the 2
1/2 years that he is going to let me come back to see him in 6 months
rather than every 3 months.
You can use this on your website
testimony postings if It will help someone else. Cause it sure helped
me and healing from the surgery was not so bad - it seemed to heal fast
and I also attribute that to the cremes. LS is a terrible disease and
no one knows what causes it yet and I have been told that not enough
people have it to be a priority in finding a cure. So thank goodness for
good caring people like you and your family. God Bless you!!
Roberta - Ohio
Concerning Lichen Sclerosis, involving the Creme Complete, from Brandie in Ohio
name is Brandie. I am composing this testimony by my own free will, and
not for capital or monetary gain. I have been struggling with Lichen
Sclerosus probably longer than I can remember. But it became severe in
January 2009.I had all the classic symptoms: Itching, scratching,
burning, bleeding, the toad skin, and white marks on my vulva. I had
become so distraught I often wondered if I could have my female parts
removed all together. I had tried EVERYTHING. First it was yeast
infection creams,then anti fungal cream,then hydrogen peroxide,then
coconut oil, then antibiotic ointment with pain relief because the pain
was so bad it hurt to walk.I ordered Emu oil,Ozonated olive oil, both of
the last two would soothe the problem for a short while so I went to the
dermatologist and was promptly prescribed steroid cream. This made the
problem much worse. So in a final desperate attempt I saw an ad for
Perrins Blend in a sidebar on a search engine. I figured "why not?" and
to my satisfaction and utter amazement! within 3 short weeks there are
little to no symptoms of what has wreak havoc on my life! I ordered the
Perrins cream complete at the advisement of a nice man who took my
order. He indicated to me that the regular blend [Perrin’s Blend] may
be too strong for my skin. Well let me just say to all who are in
doubt. JUST TRY IT! PLEASE TRY IT! I ordered my first jar on October
20th 2009. And today November 16th I have my body back! I sleep at
night! I can wear pants! I am not ashamed for my husband to touch me.I
will never be able to show my gratitude in words for Roberta who
originally pressed the issue to try it out on herself as a guinea pig.
She is an absolute angel for being so generous with her findings! I
spoke with Mrs. Perrin today and expressed how grateful I am for her
combining these ingredients and sharing them with the world. Her response
was "We take no credit" " God helped us to create it." Now how many
corporate companies or Dr's are humble in this way? I think we all know
the answer. I will forever be a customer.
Concerning a Lichen Sclerosis Lesion, involving Perrin’s Blend and the Creme Complete, From Kathy in Michigan
truly have a marvelous product. I have been meaning to send you a
testimonial, but have not gotten to it as yet. My condition was with
Lichen Sclerouis. (Probably spelled this wrong.) To make this brief, I
had been suffering with this painful condition for about 2 weeks when I
ordered your product. Had been to two doctors. Then I had read many of
your postings and found a couple that were similar to my situation so I
ordered your product. I had hoped to receive it on a Friday, but I did
not receive it until the following Monday. That Monday I could not wait
to start using Perrin's Blend. After only one overnight application,
my painful lesions had "scabbed" over. Something that after 2 weeks of
applying a cortesone cream was still not healing, in fact, was getting
worse day by day. After 2 days I was totally out of pain. No more of
that razor blade feeling of splitting tissue. After a week, it was
I read many articles and testimonials and this
condition and that it is considered chronic. However, I have not had
any relapse or any evidence that I will.
Thank you so very much!
Concerning Lichen Sclerosis, involving the Creme Complete,
From Marc in Great Britain
would just like to say how impressed I am with creme complete. My
Lichen sclerosis has gone after using the product for just over a month.
The White patches have not completely disappeared but almost there.
Thanks, your product truly is special.
Concerning Lichen Sclerosis, involving the Creme Complete, From Jo in Portland, OR
I found your cream several months ago when I was researching Lichen
Sclerosis. Thank God one person had sent you a testimony so your website
showed up during my search. When I went back to the site to reorder I
noticed you now have several testimonies. Feel free to add mine (keeping
my full name confidential).
My first symptoms were intermittent
rawness and constant bladder discomfort. When outward symptoms appeared
(white, rough and I looked like a head of cauliflower), my naturopathic
doctor sent me to a gynecologist who diagnosed lichen sclerosis and gave
me the steroid cream (Clobetasol). It worked but the symptoms soon
returned. The prognoses for anyone on the steroid cream is
grim--increased thinning of tissues until nothing much is left--and
that's the good news! I've read horror stories from so many people for
whom the pain and misery of the disease progresses in spite of the
treatment. I have not touched the steroid cream for several months since
I've been using Perrin's Crème Complete and I seem to be doing just
I also successfully used it to eliminate a ominous-looking
skin patch on my arm that was growing back after having it removed by a
doctor a few years ago.
Other uses: this is the absolute best
hand cream I've ever used. It makes my very rough hands soft and takes
the discomfort of dryness away.
Jo in Portland, OR
would love to discuss with other women how they use the creams (how
often, how long after symptoms are gone, etc.). Have you ever considered
adding a discussion forum on your website? That would allow us to share
our information without the FDA accusing you of making claims (at least
I hope it would). If the FDA ever considers messing with you, please
let me know so I can buy a lifetime supply. I truly don't know what I
would do without this stuff.

examined for this the specialist found that I had Lichen Sclirosis.

find to help with L.S. and I found your website. I started with the
Creme Complete and then tried the Perrins Blend, but found that the
Creme Complete worked better on L.S.
I went back 8wks later for my

just wanted to share that I too have had lichens sclerosis for the last

and months I began to worry that I was suffering from a chronic yeast
infection- but nothing I was doing worked. Finally after looking on the
internet i realized that I had lichens sclerosis.... I did not want to
go the medical topical creme route- and I was beside myself with
anxiety as to if I would ever have a nomal life again.....I saw your ad
and what other women wrote and I decided to try it.... just a few days
of using perrins blend creme complete I was shedding tears of joy. My

Concerning Lichen Sclerosis, involving the Creme Complete, From Ann in Illinois

spread the word about your product on the LS blogs. they know nothing
of the disease and for me, western medicine, specifically
stereriod creams have only exaccerbated my condition. again, i thank

N0TES FROM JUDY PERRIN -
A Frequently Asked Question concerning Lichen Sclerosis.
What products do you need for Lichen Sclerosis?
Many have called and emailed asking what to order for Lichen Sclerosis.
order to answer this I have written in detail, from my knowledge about
the products and from customer input, about this subject.
the strongest attack against the disease, Perrin’s Blend, is a sticky
ointment By far it contains the highest concentration of the
antioxidants Vitamin C, Alpha Lipoic Acid and N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)
and Grape-seed extract, and Honey than any of our other products. For
this reason it is possibly the most aggressive against Lichen Sclerosis
(LS), yet if person is very raw and irritated, Perrin's Blend might be
too harsh to start with because of the burning it might cause.
ordering only one product for LS, I suggest starting with Creme
Complete, our moisturizing cream highest in antioxidant concentration
and also diversity, containing CoQ10 and Resveratrol. Although it
might also burn it would be less intense.
Some who have been
severely irritated have begun with Nutra Cream, our mildest cream, for a
few days before even beginning with Creme Complete. Nutra Cream,
although higher in grape-seed extract than Crème Complete, contains less
of the burning antioxidants, such as Vitamin C and NAC. It is a
thicker cream, thereby creating more of a protective shield against
urination stinging and itching.
I first suggested using Nutra
Cream to a mother with a ten-year-old daughter with LS. Within 3 days
of using the Nutra Cream the mother called to say her daughter's intense
itching had stopped and the skin looked healthier. We don’t have this
mother’s report on our Web site, but she wrote a testimony for Oprah's
forum for LS that you can read by going there. Another lady who was so
badly inflamed that even using bathroom tissue caused bleeding, also
started with Nutra Cream and has reported very good results.
though our products don't usually burn on any other skin areas, almost
any thing used in such a delicate area might cause burning. Most
customers tell us that the burning subsides within 10-20 minutes and
then they experience relief. Some have reported that after a few days
it doesn't burn anymore. We have received only two reports of the
products being too intense that they had to stop use. I wrote about
this earlier, which you probably read.
Many order two products to
start with - Perrin’s Blend and Cream Complete - then start with Creme
Complete, using it for a few days before introducing Perrin's Blend. If
ordering these two together, be sure to scroll down on the on-line
store to get the combination special price.
Some include Nutra Cream
in their order and begin with it (depending on the degree of initial
irritation). If ordering all three products, I suggest starting with
Nutra Cream – it can be used anytime relief is needed – to hopefully
help with rawness and irritation. Within 24-48 hours start applying
Crème Complete up to 4 times daily for several days, especially applying
well at bedtime before graduating to Perrin’s Blend. Then start using
Perrin’s Blend at night. Perrin's Blend, being in a base or raw honey,
is a sticky ointment and would probably be uncomfortable for day use.
It also stains fabrics. The first person, Roberta, who ordered for
Lichen Sclerosis (LS) used it at night and then used Creme Complete
during the day.
Although Creme Complete and Nutra Cream both contain
some honey, they are spreadable creams for overall use while Perrin's
Blend was designed for use in a small area (such as a lesion) and is
hard to spread. It is thick and might need to be thinned by adding a
small amount of pure honey for spreading over such a tender area for
LS. A pad may be needed because of the staining.
selection should depend on the extent of your condition and how
aggressively you want to start. Because everyone is individual we know
that nothing (not even a prescribed medicines) always work the same for
everyone and that no one has a magic formula that brings the same
successful results for every single person, yet we are grateful to
receive so many positive reports from people being helped. Hopefully
this information will help you decide what you need and you, too, can
find relief from this disease.
A Special Word from the Perrins concerning Lichen Sclerosis:
have asked us to contact Roberta, the lady who gave the wonderful
report of Perrin’s Blend and Crème Complete helping her Lichen
Sclerosis, or to have her contact them. We understand the reasons of
those wanting to do this but in respect for our customers we must abide
by a strict policy to never reveal any of their personal information or
to contact them for favors.
When Roberta first called last year
and spoke with Judy Perrin, Judy had never heard of the disease, Lichen
Sclerosis. As Roberta described the condition, Judy discouraged her
from using Perrin’s Blend on such a tender area, and discouraged her
from buying the products. Months later, in April of 2009 Roberta
contacted Judy once again, inquiring about making a purchase. Although
none of Perrin’s skin blends have been reported as causing a burning
sensation on other areas, Judy told her to expect burning in this
delicate and inflamed area. Roberta knew the Perrins had no reports of
any customers using their products for Lichen Sclerosis, yet she
decided to try Perrin’s Blend and Crème Complete, agreeing to accept all
responsibility for the outcome. After she had such a miraculous
report, Judy asked her if she would like to post it on the Web site.
She was ready to do so in order to help others.
Since we posted
her testimony we know several with this disease have ordered, because we
have received several reports from customers using these same two
products (Perrin's Blend & Crème Complete) that Roberta ordered.
On the positive side:
user told us that, though her condition hadn’t been biopsied, she had
been told by two doctors that they believed she had Lichen Sclerosis.
Initially she experienced burning from the products, but after using
them for a while all of her symptoms were gone and the doctor
confirmed she doesn't have any signs of the disease.
customer called to tell us of her great improvement after only two days
of using Perrin’s Blend and Crème Complete. She said that the burning
was no more than the burning of prescriptions she has used. She said at
first the burning from our products is strong, but after about ten
minutes it subsides. She told us that the area affected by L.S. feels
better -- that the products seem to have given a protection against the
terrible stinging she was undergoing while urinating, as well as
relieving the awful itching she was experiencing. Hopefully she will
keep us updated.
On the negative side:
people are more sensitive to discomfort than others. We have received
reports from two customers who experienced too much burning and have
discontinued use of the products in that area. As mentioned in other
places on the website, every ingredient in Perrin’s Blend can be
purchased at a health food store and taken internally. One of the main
causes of the burning or stinging sensation is the Vitamin C.
to help people, so if you have any reports you are willing to share
about your situation concerning L.S. and our products, please feel free
to call or email. We know this situation is miserable and people need
relief; however we want customers to make the choice knowing what others
Our goal is to help others, not to hurt
them, which is why Judy discouraged Roberta and she didn't sell to
Roberta the first time she called. It was only after Roberta called
again months later that Judy agreed to let her try it. This is also why
we willing share this information with you.
We can't take
responsibility for individual reaction. If a person orders for Lichen
Sclerosis, knowing all the pros and cons -- such as an a possible
burning reaction, we can’t give refunds for this reason-- just as a
pharmacist doesn't give refunds if a medicine doesn't work. However,
their purchases shouldn’t be a total waste, as they can always use the
products for other things.
Please know that it is our desire for L. S. victims to find relief, yet using must be the decision of each customer.
FAQ Frequently Asked Questions about Perrin’s Blend
Can I use Perrin's Blend on large areas?
Blend is a honey based ointment, making it a sticky paste so it is not
easily spread over large areas, but a person can do so if he/she is
determined to do so. It is also burgundy in color due to the grape seed
extract which means it can permanently stain clothes, bed linens,
etc. so we recommend covering the area with a bandage if staining a
fabric is a concern to you.
Do I have to keep the lesion covered?
mentioned above, Perrin's Blend is a sticky honey based ointment and
burgundy in color due to the grape seed extract which means it will
stain clothes. Even though we have seen positive results with sporadic
application, the best results come when the lesion is in constant
contact the Perrin's Blend. That also means leaving the bandage on
during a bath, then not washing it off before reapplying. Most of the
time the lesion needs to be covered to prevent the Perrin's Blend from
being rubbed off. If the place is on your face (where there is less of a
chance of the ointment being rubbed off) and you doesn't mind the
appearance of the ointment then there may not be as much of a reason to
keep the area covered, and a person can keep reapplying during the day.
Why is Perrin's Blend so thick?
Blend is a high concentration of antioxidants in a base of raw honey,
and honey thickens naturally. We could add more honey which would help
with the thickness but that would weaken the formula, so we have chosen
not to do this. The ointment seems to work better when it is so thick
it actually has to be pressed onto the area being treated. Once it
makes contact on the skin your body temperature will start to slightly
melt the honey, making it softer. A thicker product runs less, which
helps it to stay in place until a bandage can be placed over the area.
If the thickness poses a real problem to you then you can thin the
product with pure honey. Some people choose to do this.
What should I use to apply Perrin’s Blend?
never use a cotton-tipped applicator. Cotton fibers will stick to the
ointment. If you prefer not to use your finger, choose a firm
applicator -- a wooden paddle or spoon handle is fine). If Perrin’s
Blend tends to stick to the applicator you may want to slightly oil the
applicator before applying.
Can I get my money back if Perrin's Blend doesn't work?
don't make claims that Perrin's Blend works for everyone. We relay the
testimonies given to us by those who have had success with our products
to our customers and those interested in using our products. Results
vary and so does the diligence and consistency of application of the
customer, but we have see more positive results than we ever
imagined. Occasionally we do have a person return the product, but
this is very rare (about 1 return in every 300 orders). If you are
highly dissatisfied with the product, return the product to us and we
will give you a refund. We have so few complaints and returns that we
haven't developed a definitive policy.
Is Perrin's Blend like Black Salve?
it isn't. Black Salve can be extremely invasive and painful, and can
leave scars. There is no ingredient in Perrin's Blend that is similar
to blood root, the main ingredient in black slave. In fact every
ingredient in Perrin’s Blend can be bought at a health food store and
taken internally. Perrin's Blend is non-invasive and for the most part,
painless, and most of the time leaves no scars. There have been some
reports of itching and/or tingling associated with using Perrin's Blend
but nothing extreme. In the case of Lichen Sclerosis there has been a
burning sensation reported.
How long does one container last?
many applications in one container depend on the size on your lesion.
We have recently had a health food store owner comment that "this stuff
[Perrin's Blend] lasts forever". If you are treating something the size
of a pencil eraser then you will probably get 75 - 100 applications out
of one 1 oz. container.
What are the ingredients in Perrin’s Blend?
The ingredients are:
Raw Honey (local honey directly from the beekeeper),
Grapeseed extract (extremely fine powder with no additives)
Natural Vitamin C powder (pure with no additives)
Natural Vitamin E powder (with natural stabilizers)
Alpha Lipoic Acid powder (pure with no additives)
N-acetyl-Cysteine [NAC] powder (pure with no additives)
Rice Flour, Magnesium Stearate, Calcium Silicate (natural stabilizers).
ingredients contain non toxic substance and are actually edible. No
chemicals or petroleum-based substances are ever added to any of
What is the shelf life of Perrin’s Blend?
put a two-year expiration date on it, because we know one person had
successful results after having it for at least this long. Honey itself
is a natural preservative.
Should Perrin’s Blend be refrigerated?
refrigeration is not necessary, or even good, for honey. Store at room
temperature in a cabinet to keep it in the dark as much as possible.
Keep it dry. Never add water. Water can cause mold.
Grapeseed Extract & Grapeseed Oil
The medicinal and nutritional value of grapes ( Vitis vinifera
) has been praised for since ancient times. Egyptians consumed this
fruit at least 6,000 years ago, and several ancient Greek philosophers
praised the healing power of grapes -- usually in the form of wine.
European folk healers developed an ointment from the sap of grapevines
to cure skin and eye diseases. Grape leaves were used to stop bleeding,
inflammation, and pain, such as the kind brought on by hemorrhoids.
Unripe grapes were used to treat sore throats and dried grapes (raisins)
were used to heal consumption, constipation, and thirst. The round,
ripe, sweet grapes, were used to treat a range of health problems
including cancer, cholera, smallpox, nausea, eye infections, and skin,
kidney, and liver diseases.
Researchers are now discovering that many of the health properties of grapes may actually come from the seeds themselves.
Among other beneficial
effects, the active compounds in grape seed are believed to have
antioxidant properties. A recent study of healthy volunteers found that
supplementation with grape seed extract substantially increased levels
of antioxidants in the blood. Antioxidants are substances that destroy
free radicals -- damaging compounds in the body that alter cell
membranes, tamper with DNA (genetic material), and even cause cell
death. Free radicals occur naturally in the body, but environmental
toxins (including ultraviolet light, radiation, smoke, certain
prescription and non-prescription drugs, and air pollution) can also
increase the number of these damaging particles. Free radicals are
believed to contribute to the aging process as well as the development
of a number of health problems, including heart disease and cancer.
Antioxidants found in grape seeds can neutralize free radicals and may
reduce or even help prevent some of the damage they cause. Some studies
suggest that grapeseed extract may be as much as 50 times more potent
than vitamin C or E in terms of antioxidant activity.
Some of the substances in grapeseed that are beneficial
Vitamin E, flavonoids,
linoleic acid, and compounds called procyanidins (also known as
condensed tannins, pycnogenols, and oligomeric proanthocyanidins or
OPCs) are highly concentrated in grape seeds. These healthful compounds
can also be found in lower concentrations in the skin of the grape.
Procyanidins are also found in grape juice and wine, but in lower
concentrations. Resveratrol is another of grape's healthful compounds
which are related to procyanidins and found mainly in the skins.
Resveratrol has gained much popularity as an antioxidant supplement.
Resveratrol has shown to have anti-cancer activity. Resveratrol is a
photoalexin produced natually by several plants when under attack by
bacteria or fungi. Phytoalixins are antibacterial and anti-fungal
chemicals produced by chemical synthesis. Resveratrol is found on the
skin of grapes but also in the seeds. In laboratory studies resveratrol
has appeared to interfere with cancer cell growth and division and
causes some cancer cells to disintegrate at a faster rate than they
normally would. Resveratrol may block enzymes that prolong the the
sruvival of several cancer cell types including skin cancer. As a
result tumors may either stop growing or actually shrink because many
of the cancer cells die.
In some studies injuries to skin may
have healed better when grapeseed extract was applied. Thorugh several
possible effects that include promoting the regrowth of connective
tissues, grapeseed extract is believed to encourage faster, stronger
healing with less scarring.
Medicinal Uses and Indications
Today, health care
professionals use standardized extracts of grape seed to treat a range
of health problems related to free radical damage, including blood sugar
regulation problems, heart disease, and cancer. Studies in
laboratories, animals, and people lend some support to these uses.
Flavonoids found in red
wine have been reported to protect the heart. They may inhibit the
oxidation of LDL ("bad") cholesterol. (LDL oxidation which can lead to
hardening of the arteries or atherosclerosis). Studies have demonstrated
a relationship between flavonoid intake (from foods) and reduced risk
of death from coronary heart disease.
The Mediterranean diet is
comprised of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, olive
oil, and moderate, daily wine consumption. In a long-term study of 423
patients who suffered a heart attack, those who followed a Mediterranean
diet had a 50 - 70% lower risk of recurrent heart disease compared with
controls who received no special dietary counseling. Some researchers
believe that some of the beneficial effects of the Mediterranean diet
are due to flavonoids found in red wine. (Another well-known theory
along these lines is called "The French Paradox." The belief is that
drinking wine protects those living in France from developing heart
disease at as high a rate as those living in the United States, despite
the rich fatty foods they eat.)
Others speculate that the
healthful effects of moderate wine consumption are due to its alcohol
content and not its flavonoid content. If the flavonoids are
contributing to heart protection, then grape seed extracts offer an
important alternative to alcohol, particularly given the down sides of
drinking alcohol. A third concept is being proposed by a group of
researchers who believe that the beneficial effects of wine may be
triggered by a complex interaction of alcohol and flavonoids. As the
controversy of which ingredient in wine is the most important continues,
both grape seed extracts and red wine continue to be promoted for heart
health. In addition, several test tube and animal studies confirm that
antioxidants from grapes offer cardioprotection in their own right.
It is also important to
note that the use of alcohol is not advocated by the American Heart
Association and other organizations because of the potential for
addiction and the other serious repercussions, such as motor vehicle
accidents and the development of hypertension, liver disease, breast
cancer, and weight gain. If you do drink red wine, you should have no
more than 2 glasses (20 g ethanol) per day.
A study of 40 people with
high cholesterol assessed the effects of grape seed extract, chromium, a
combination of both, or placebo for 2 months. The combination of grape
seed extract and chromium was more effective than either substance alone
or placebo in reducing total and LDL ("bad") cholesterol.
A more recent study
tested the effects of a patented grape seed extract on lipid
peroxidation (which aids in the formation of "bad" cholesterol) in a
group of heavy smokers. Twenty-four healthy male smokers, (aged 50 years
or greater) were given either placebo or 2 capsules (75 mg of a grape
procyanidin extracts and soy-phosphatidalcholine), twice daily for 4
weeks. "Bad" cholesterol levels (low density lipoprotein or LDL) were
lower in those taking the grape seed supplement than those on placebo.
The authors concluded that grape seed extract may help prevent
cholesterol oxidation and further damage to the cardiovascular system in
people who smoke.
High blood pressure
Antioxidants, such as
grape seed, help protect blood vessels from damage. Damaged blood
vessels can lead to an increased demand on the heart. In several animal
studies, a grape seed extract substantially reduced blood pressure.
Human studies are needed to determine whether grape seed extract confers
the same benefits to people with high blood pressure.
In one recent study of
only three patients with chronic pancreatitis (inflammation of the
pancreas), a commercially available grape seed extract significantly
reduced the frequency and intensity of abdominal pain after conventional
medications failed to improve symptoms. Further studies are needed to
confirm these preliminary findings.
Studies have found that
grape seed extracts may prevent the growth of breast, stomach, colon,
prostate, and lung cancer cells in the laboratory. Grape seed extract
may also be effective in preventing damage to human liver cells caused
by chemotherapy medications. Antioxidants, such as grape seed extract,
have been reported beneficial in cancer prevention. Although grape seed
has not been studied in humans for its anticancer effects, the
antioxidant properties of grape seed are proven beneficial.
Health care professionals
may recommend grape seed extract for a variety of circulatory ailments
(including varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency). Grape seed
may also be used for other diseases related to free radical damage
(oxidation), including blood sugar regulation and age-related macular
degeneration, an eye disorder that develops with age and can lead to
blindness. Grape seed extract may help improve night vision and
photophobia (sensitivity to light) as well.
Grape seed extract may
also be helpful in those with asthma and allergies. Several studies
support the use of proanthocyanidins, such as those found in grape seed,
as a supplement for allergic conditions (including airborne and food
Here are some of the benefits of Olive Oil when taken internally.
oil it is a prime component of the Mediterranean Diet. The beneficial
health effects of olive oil are due to both its high content of
monounsaturated fatty acids and its high content of antioxidative
substances. Studies have shown that olive oil offers protection against
heart disease by controlling LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels while
raising HDL (the "good" cholesterol) levels. (1-3) No other naturally
produced oil has as large an amount of monounsaturated as olive oil
-mainly oleic acid.
oil is very well tolerated by the stomach. Olive oil's protective
function has a beneficial effect on ulcers and gastritis. Olive oil
activates the secretion of bile and pancreatic hormones much more
naturally than prescribed drugs. Consequently, it lowers the incidence
of gallstone formation.
Olive oil and heart disease
have shown that consuming - about 2 tablespoons - of virgin olive oil
daily for 1 week showed less oxidation of LDL cholesterol and higher
levels of antioxidant compounds, particularly phenols, in the blood.(4)
while all types of olive oil are sources of monounsaturated fat, EXTRA
VIRGIN olive oil, from the first pressing of the olives, contains higher
levels of antioxidants, particularly vitamin E and phenols, because it
is less processed.
oil is clearly a healing oil. Most people do quite well with it since it
does not upset the critical omega 6 to omega 3 ratio and most of the
fatty acids in olive oil are actually an omega-9 oil which is
Olive oil and colon cancer
researchers suggest that including olive oil in your diet may also offer
benefits in terms of colon cancer prevention (5). Their study results
showed that rats fed diet supplemented with olive oil had a lower risk
of colon cancer than those fed safflower oil-supplemented diets. In
fact, the rats that received olive oil had colon cancer rates almost as
low as those fed fish oil, which several studies have already linked to a
reduction in colon cancer risk.
For thousands of years olive oil has been used on the skin as a moistuizer and to soften skin.
Below is a 2005 study involving infants and diaper dermatitis in Dubai Medical Center.
Twelve infants suffering from diaper dermatitis were treated four times daily for 7 days with a mixture containing honey, olive oil and beeswax.
The severity of erythema was evaluated on a five-point scale. Three
infants had severe erythema and ulceration, four had moderate erythema,
and five had moderate erythema with maceration. The initial mean lesion
score of 2.91±0.79 declined significantly (p<0.05) to 2.0±0.98 (day
3), 1.25±0.96 (day 5) and 0.66±0.98 (day 7). Candida albicans was isolated initially from four patients, but from only two patients after treatment. This topocal treatment was safe and well-tolerated, and demonstrated clinical and mycological benefits in the treatment of diaper dermatitis. Another study found that a mixture of honey, beeswax and olive oil also inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus and Candida albicans isolated from human specimens.
Olive oil, honey, and beeswax are some of the main ingredients in our skin care products.
Sweet Almond Oil-Topical Uses
Sweet almond oil is dry,
and easily absorbed by the skin for which it is shown to improve
moisture levels and maintain firmness and elasticity. Sweet almond oil
can also be used to treat chapped lips and certain mild skin conditions
such as rashes, and also eczema. Sweet almond oil can also be taken as a
laxative, though this application is not generally recommended.
Sweet almond oil is known
for it’s healthy properties and is one of the most popular aromatherapy
oils. It has a sweet, nutty scent and is very pale yellow in color.
Often sweet almond oil is employed as a massage oil because of its
beneficial effect on the skin, adding moisture and combatting dry skin
whilst also lending healing properties due to its high mineral content.
Sweet almond oil is also an excellent lubricant and many devotees claim
it provides their skin with a glow that nothing else can quite match.
Castor oil--Topical Uses
Castor oil has been used
therapeutically for hundreds of years, both internally and externally.
Applied topically, it has many beneficial effects in a wide range of
conditions. Almost 90% of its fatty acid content consists of ricinoleic
acid. Such a high concentration of this unusual, unsaturated fatty acid
is thought to be responsible for castor oil's healing abilities. Ricinoleic
acid has been shown to be effective in preventing the growth of
numerous species of viruses, bacteria, yeasts and molds. (J Am Oil Chem
Soc 61;37.323-325.) One
study has found that castor oil decreased pain more than ultrasound gel
or Vaseline during extracorporeal shock wave application.
We use beeswax instead of
petroleum because it contains “wax esthers” that also exist in human
skin. It is a natural hydrating agent that increases essential moisture
in the skin. Beeswax has a very low irritation potential and promotes
healing and softening of skin and is an antiseptic. Historically,
Beeswax was used in Greece to treat abscesses, by the Assyrians to heal
wounds, and by the Egyptians for mummification. Numerous scientific
tests have been conducted with a variety of bacteria, fungi, viruses and
other microorganisms. A study recently found that a mixture of honey,
beeswax and olive oil inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans isolated from human specimens.
Pure Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has been used
since ancient times because of its benefits for dry and cracked skin,
burns, blisters, frostbite, insect bites, and allergic reactions. Many
ancient works, including the Bible, refer to the use of aloe. One of
the first documented users of aloe vera was Cleopatra. She is said to
have used the gel on her skin as protection from the sun, and to have
thought the gel helped to keep her skin young-looking. In fact, the
Egyptians may have used aloe vera in their embalming of bodies, among
other uses. In the 10th Century, the Europeans were introduced, where it became an important ingredient in many herbal medicines. By the 16th Century, aloe arrived in the West Indies, where still today it is grown and harvested. Today,
the gel found in the leaves is used for soothing minor burns, wounds,
and various skin conditions like eczema and ringworm. The use of this
herbal medicine was popularized in the 1950's in many Western Countries.
The gel's effect is nearly immediate, plus it also applies a layer over
wounds that is said to reduce the chance of any infection.
Some studies suggest that aloe vera has anti-viral and antibacterial properties. In one study aloe
was mixed with the following viruses: herpes, chickenpox, rabies, and
flu. Aloe killed these viruses in 15 minutes. Electron microscopic exam
demonstrated that the structures surrounding the viruses were torn
apart, thus showing how aloe kills certain viruses in vitro. Dermatologists
have shown considerable interest in aloe vera due to its antimicrobial
and antibacterial properties. In in vitro studies, marked zones of
inhibition (bacteriostatic activity) were shown for Staphylococcus
aureus 209, E. coli, Streptococcus pyogenes, Coryenbacterium xerose,
Shigella paradysenteriae, Salmonella typhosa, Salmonella schotimuelleri,
and Salmonella paratyphi.
Vegetable glycerin is a
skin-friendly humectant that attracts water into the skin as well as a
binding agent that occurs naturally in vegetables. It is anti-bacterial
and works to make the skin supple while fighting dryness and scaling. It
is invaluable as a natural source ingredient with emollient like
properties which can soften and soothe the skin and it assists the outer
epidermis in retaining moisture. It is also a natural preservative.
Vitamin C is a natural
antioxidant and is an essential nutrient for a large number of higher
primate species, in nearly all bats (representing 20% of all mammalian
species) and a small number of other species, such as the guinea pig and
a few species of birds and fish. The presence of ascorbate is required
for a range of essential metabolic reactions in all animals and plants.
It is made internally by almost all organisms, humans being the most
well-known exception. It is widely known as the vitamin whose deficiency
causes scurvy in humans. Vitamin C is one of the most common antioxidants. It
recharges other antioxidants like vitamin E. It helps prevent
premature aging and is is required for the synthesis of collagen in the
skin. Collagen can be seen as the foundation of healthy and young
looking skin. Collagen is the main protein of connective tissue in
humans making up about 25% of the total protein content. Vitamin C may
also help with UV damage. A study from Duke University concluded that
"Appreciable photoprotection can be obtained from the combination of
topical vitamins C and E. We suggest that these natural products may
protect against skin cancer and photoaging". Vitamin C may also contain anti-viral and antibacterial properties.
Vitamin E is an
antioxidant that research has shown to have a variety of benefits for
the skin. Studies have shown vitamin E may help decrease the effects if
psoriasis and erythema, in the reduction of stretch marks, in the
reduction of scarring from wounds, and it may help to reduce the risk of
skin cancer. A study from Duke University concluded that "Appreciable
photoprotection can be obtained from the combination of topical vitamins
C and E. We suggest that these natural products may protect against
skin cancer and photoaging".
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Recent studies suggest
that topical application of alpha lipoic acid may be effective against
wrinkles and scars. If further studies corroborate skin benefits of
lipoic acid, it may become one of the mainstays of today's anti-aging
skin care. In fact, lipoic acid will be especially welcome in the family
of proven wrinkle fighters because it is less irritating than tretinoin
(Retin A, Renova) and hydroxy acids. Therefore it can be used in
delicate and wrinkle prone area around the eyes.
Alpha lipoic acid
is a powerful antioxidant by itself but it also recycles vitamin C and
vitamin E. It can restore the antioxidant properties of these vitamins
after they have neutralized free redicals. When taken internally alpha
lipoic acid has shown time and again in clinical trials to be
successful for protecting cells from free-radical damage. Free radicals
are unstable molecules caused from normal situations like metabolism to
unhealthy activities like smoking, and are a major culprit of wrinkling
and the loss of firmness associated with normal aging. Alpha lipoic
acid could also come to play an important role in the prevention and
treatment of chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes and
cardiovascular disease because it is known as a metabolic antioxidant.
Without alpha lipoic acid cells cannot use sugar to produce energy.
N-Acetyl Cysteine (or
NAC)- NAC is a sulfur containing amino acid that is needed to produce
the free radical fighter glutathione and maintain it at adequate levels
in cells. It helps to detoxify the body of chemicals and other poisons
and slows the aging process. Studies have shown that NAC can play a
role in the reduction of cancer cells.
There have been many
research reports that have shown resveratrol can prevent or slow down a
wide variety of illnesses from Cancer and Alzheimer’s to cardiovascular
disease on animals. We use a Micronized Resveratrol powder. The particle
size averages between 1 to 4 microns. Most resveratrol supplements
currently average between 149 to 224 microns. Micronized Resveratrol
powder is estimated to be up to 220% better than most of the regular
The body uses vitamin A
for maintenance of healthy skin, good vision and a robust immune
system. It is also a free radical fighting antioxidant and therefore is
anti-aging. Vitamin A is a carotenoid which is a class of
photochemicals that is a fat soluable pigment found in yellow, red,
green, and orange vegetables and fruits. Carotenoids act as anticancer
agents. Alpha lipoic acid, vitamin E, and vitamin C, help conserve
carotenoids in tissue. Research
done by Fisher et al in 1998 at the University of Michigan Medical
School suggests that higher levels of vitamin A within the skin may
prove to have therapeutic and anti-aging value immediately following UV
(sun) exposure. Vitamin A stimulates the removal and replacement of
damaged skin components.
Vitamin D can help
control the proliferation of skin cells that lead to psoriatic lesions.
Vitamin D deficiency may lead to skin malignancies (skin cancer).
Topically applied Vitamin D may reduce DNA damage in skin that leads to
Biotin is also know
an as vitiamn H. It is needed for healthy skin, hair, and nails. It
can be found in many hair care products. Biotin aids in cell growth, in
fatty acid production, in the maetbolism of carbohydrates, fats, and
proteins. In infants, a condition called seborrheic dermatitis, or
craddle cap which consists of a dry and flaky scalp may be the result of
a deficiency of biotin.
Jasmine is a sturdy,
climbing, evergreen shrub with bright green leaves that grows to be
approximately twenty feet tall with white star shaped flowers. These
flowers can only be picked at night because they only bloom at night.
This beautiful plant can be found in Egypt, Morocco, and the
Mediterranean. They were originally found in Peru, Kashmir and China.
Jasmine is sought after for its powerful characteristics that aid the
body as an anti-depressant, an aphrodisiac, and its confidence boosting
qualities it has on the mind. Jasmine’s essential oil is steam distilled
from its flowers, it takes huge quantities of petals to prepare one
ounce of Jasmine’s essential oil.
Jasmine essential oil has a sweet and floral aroma. It has many healing properties than are very useful it is used as an anti-inflammatory agent, as an antiseptic
